stop rot works wonderful on a cape before you start the fleshing process
i brush some on the eyes, mouth and nose ,and the ears and the inside of the ears
it will give you enough time to flesh well up front
especially if you are new and are slow
after waiting a hour i flesh real good
then trow it in the krowtann
now Glens the expert but something i have noticed is when i put another round of stop rot on the cape before the neutralising step
the color of the eyes, nose, and mouth stay close to the same as when i started
i have found when using KROWTANN that the krowoil gives you a lot of stretch which makes it easier to mount and yields less strinkage
im not suggesting oversizing the mold
just using the same size which mounts up real nice
use good glue like Epo-Grip
hope this helps
Using STOP-ROT on ANY of the exposed epidermis areas, eyes, nose, lips inside of ears BEFORE neutralizing does make a difference. That seems to be holding true with any acid pickle.
Sometimes you will find that capes and skins that haven't been treated properly might slough off epidermis once they are put into a neutralizing bath, and everything was tight before then. Some of the guys have gone to putting a thin coat of STOP-ROT on the flesh side of pickled suspect capes and reported good success.
If the eyelids swell up in the pickle, and seem to be real watery and mushy, be sure to treat those, they just darn near seem to always slough epidermis if you don't.
I've been expecting Paul to come up with a new application. He's down there in the south fighting heat and humidity all the time that a lot of us don't have to contend with. You might want to keep an eye on his reporting, he's pretty accurate.
