I have a small bull elk i'm mounting and was wondering if i could use mache on the skull cap after i bolt it on the mannikin or do i have to use something stronger like a fiberglass resin?

yes, some use mache, some use clay
The bolts are where you get your strength from. You can use mache, clay or bondo as the filler you need to rebuild the flesh you removed. Jack F
