Try This

Try using a small roll of clay on the top side of the duct. As the skin dries keep the skin rolled down and adjust. If your reading your reference right you will see how the skin "rolls" softly into the duct.

Greg, thin it down more a lot more.

Use Apoxie Sculpt instead of clay in the tear duct, you can roll it over and the AS will hold it way better.

slot

Don't make the slot so wide, keep it tight. And cut the slot with the tool on a angle, hold the tool so it points towards the nose of the form, and push in on a angle. On a real deer, the gland is going in on a angle, not straight in from the side. Thin the hide area, gule and pin.

And please STOP

Calling them tear ducts. They are the lachrymal crease. In which lie the preorbital gland. The tear ducts are the two pin holes found just inside the inner eye lid in the front part of the eye. And cannot be seen on a mounted dear.

dont make slot to big
push some all gave or whatever you use and shove a t pin down into slot
when the all game dries it will hold the pin and the pin holds the skin
you can still adjust the upper portion if you need to

Keys to ducts...

I used to have that problem until I got them nice and thin. I also cut the bottom out of them so that I have two pieces to tuck, just like you are tucking lips. It is easier to get them aligned and not bunched up, and you can look through the hole to get it aligned properly. If it is tucked correctly, then pinning it with good paste and readjusting it for a couple days should keep it closed.
