Different Question regarding Antler in Velvet

Submitted by B2 on 7/7/05 at 9:48 PM. ( ) 66.207.248.168

I have a deer head (roadkill) in velvet with a broken antler. when the break occurred, the velvet tore...

I understand how to fix the antler, but what about the velvet?

I plan on using the Preserv It and soak the antlers in it.. after that, is the preferable method to sew or just try to simply glue it in the proper place then fix the seam area? whichever method followed, what is the better method of cover up of the repair?

Thanx in advance

You gave yourself the answer..................just glue the velvet back into place after the antler repair is completed.

Useing the proper glue is the question , perhaps. Just do a small spot first & try superglue. If a little spot shows with- out velvet, use a mixture of ground up felts . & glue it in place with some glue ( experiment to find the best glue ) A lot depends on the size of the area to repair to. An airbrush could be used to finalize the blending of any odd - non- conforming areas, etc.
