I use this sealer Kilz alot in my job and was wondering if this would be suitable for using on WT forms. I'm using Buckeye supreme and am weighting the options here, (sand, seal, or sand and seal). Any sugestions are appericated. Thanks

The old shellac method of sealing the form simply gave the dextrine hide paste "tooth" to adhere the hide in place. Modern forms, when sanded provide that tooth for the contact cements like Buckeye Supreme. To seal it defeats the adhesive qualities of the glue. You MUST sand a form to break that barrier made of the release agent and the polishing of the expanding foam. Once sanded, Buckeye will hold it till the cows come home and it won't need anything under it.
Hi, you need to experiment.....most sealers I have ever tried ( including the spray can types ) do NOT work for me. At least NOT TO MY STANDARDS, lol . A lot has to do with the glue used & the thpe of taning or preservatived skin being glued on etc. to .
Some will argue, but YOU NEED to TRY all the possibilities , I guess ( you can never say NEVER, you hear that ? )
Roughing up the serface of these foam forms is about the ONLY thing I have found that let's the variety of glues hold . Sealing the foam only let's the glue hold to the sealers, etc. & until we find a SEALER that PENTRATES the foam surface, it ain't gonna HAPPEN.
If someone HAS it, BRING it UP please ?
Most say what they spray on or bruch on WORKS, but PROVE it to yourself...................I have not had any - sealers work ............... the END....................
I thought that was a dated tecnique just wanted to make sure. I've been just sanding them. The oldest mount of my work that I have is 3-4 years old and all the skin seems to be tight to the form. I'm assuming I would notice if the form wasn't sanded properly by now, right?
