For those of us that try to keep a few chickens or turkeys around and have some difficulty with mother natures creatures helping themselves leaving us with empty coops here is a little trick I learned from an old timer the other day, have not tried it yet myself though: To keep a racoon, opossum, and skunks from killing chickens or turkeys take an empty pie tin and put "Black Marlin Fly Bait" powder in the bottom. Pour in cola or root beer, enough to disolve the fly bait it should turn a blueish color leave it around the run or house overnight for the dinner guests. The next morning if they stopped by you should find them no more than ten feet from the tins if they drank what was there. The old timer told me he got 12 coon in one night outside his turkey pen with this trick. The coons were getting him for about 3 birds a night before he discovered this trick. He said it will also work if you have animals living in your hay mile of the barn. Enjoy

Just make sure your pets don't drink this, they will be as dead as the coons. Also, keep in mind how your neighbor's pets might be to your place. This stuff is nasty!
supply Golden Malarin fly bait. Use it and it works great.
Bill
I use it around the barn, but what I have been buying is blue.
Dont put it where the chickens can eat it.
Malarin is the word not marlin.
from what I read about this stuff it is against Federal Laws to use this product in the manner you prescribe. I'm not sure what the penalties could be but who needs the grief.
I like to keep my neighbors on their toes with a few gun shots during the night hours. Reminds a few of them why they moved from the "big city" to the country. I have to wonder how many move to their cast iron tubs for the remainder of the night, lol. Plus it keeps my night shooting skills refined.
I did say that an "old timer" told me about this remedy not that I have done it. I am just putting information out there wether it works on eliminating worthless, disease infested vermin is not up to me to find out, so I guess I need to attach a disclaimer onto the post saying "this is for information purposes only do not try this at home" Yeah that'll do it I reckon. Thanks,
