Hole repairs on coon

Question for you all. I just rehydrated my Lutan tanned pelt today to take measurements for the form. I noticed there are 2 holes on the belly (probably the size of a nickel). What is the best way to go about repairing them, and should the repairs be done when the pelt is on the form being mounted, or should it be done off the form?

I know some guys will pin the two sides of the hole together when mounting and just leave the pins in and brush the hair over. Others will sew them up from the skin side before putting them on the form.

Please let me know the best and strongest way to go about repairing these holes.

Thanks! Jason

Why not sew one hole, and pin the other, then you tell us how it turns out? Both ways will work, but I would only pin tiny holes, and sew big holes.

If I do sew them, should I sew before I put on the form (and should I sew from the tanned side or the hair side), or after it's on the form? Thanks, Jason

try this

what side would you sew on to keep the hair out of the way?
When you figure that out, you will know if to fix the two holes before, or after putting it on the form. These are no brainer questions you are asking. You need to stop, back up and watch a video on fleshing, tanning, preping a hide, then mounting. You are asking every question that I am sure are covered in most mounting videos.

Sew from the inside, fix holes firsts.

He used pins to fix all holes if any. Thanks for the help in any case
