Here is a front view of that deer.

If I understand you guys correctly from the first question....the rack is too far back, preventing me from moving the ear butts up to align with the red line. WOW....talk about a light bulb going off!
One other question I have is the angle of the ears. I've looked through all of my taxidermy catalogs and can't find a picture of what I am looking for.
Should the ears angle a little forward in an alert pose?
Thanks

One thing they CANNOT DO, however, is move their earbutts. I see that a lot with beginners with the ears laid flat against the face. Ain't happening. The only sure advice I can give you on this one is to get tons of reference pictures. "Alert" can and does have many stages, so you'll need to pick the one you like best.
These photo programs are pretty handy for analyzing aren't they?
Scott, check your e-mail box. I just sent you another photo to play with. This has became one of my favorite reference photos.
That photo will come in handy.
I've been doing the "red line/green line" thing on other pictures of mounts I have done. Wow, I learned some valuable info today.
I can't wait to start my next deer so I can line the butts up properly hahaha
Thanks,
