I have done lots of ducks but never a deer. I recently ordered from WASCO a couple videos on mounting a white tail deer. Both are the same author but one states using DP and the other says to use tanning.Right now i don't have the space to tan,if cape is cleaned well is using DP alright? I have been reading up on the Krow tan is it as easy as it says? Thanks.

The Krowtan is a better bet for you. Follow the directions and make sure you neutralize properly. You wont be sorry and its better than DP. You need enough room for a nice new plastic garbage can. Hold the hide down w/ one gallon jugs of water. We are using it on our small mammals too. Good Luck

I'd never go THAT FAR with an alum tan

You guys keep printing it, I'll keep slamming it. To answer your question completely, Click the orange search button and typ in (use quotation marks) "Tanning and Dry Preservative" and look for about September 2002?

Why not try it?

Tanning is a better method, but if your learning give DP a try. I assume that you are not planning to start out with your lifetime buck or a customer mount. To me it's all part of the learning process. Try DP, Krowtan, commercial tannery, and the various in-house tans.
