federal record keeping questions

I am a begining taxidermist and I need to choose which record keeping system to use. I have looked at 3 different catalogs. McKenzie wants $93 for theirs and the other 2 want around $20. Would it make a difference in the different books if I got checked by the game warden? Does anyone know a website that I can download the record sheets of the required info. As you all know money is tight when you are first starting our. I have already checked the us fish and wildlife site. I would appreciate anyones input, Thank you! Robert

You can make your own out of a notebook if you want to. Just follow the regulations and keep track of whatever the regulations tell you to do. I bought a Migratory waterfowl log book from Research Mannikins( I think it was about $15.00) and when DNR did there sweep on Indiana taxidermists they did not even look at it. That is not to say the feds would not look at it though. The only one they checked was my regular logbook. Which has all of the waterfowl listed in it also. Just follow what the USFW tell you you need and you will be fine.

Robert, you already HAVE a program that works

If you have a computer, most of them have Excel on them. Greatest thing since sliced bread. Make up your own sheets using that program, print them out, have 3 holes punched in them and put them in a dedicated notebook on your work desk. Been doing that for years. I'm emailing you a copy of mine and you're welcome to use it if you'd like.

could I get a copy too?

Have any of you tried any of the record keeping system programs that are out there for sale? I've looked at the Trophy Mount System by Wilamette PC Services and a few others but haven't really found one that I like.
What are you using for financial record tracking? We are currently using Excel but our tax preparer recommended using an official program like Quickbooks, etc.
Our studio is also fairly new and still working out the kinks... Thanks guys!
