have a friend coming out near Durango this fall to hunt elk in the San Juan National forest. he's looking for a taxi to turn flesh and salt before he brings it back to wisconsin. approx price and names and phone numbers would sure help. thanks

He should do his homework

and learn how to do this himself, after all it is part of the hunt. Once he gets the cape off the beast the hard part is done.

Have him check with a local taxidermist, possibly the one that will be doing his work?, and gather some information on how this is all done and the simple tools he will need. Maybe the taxidermist will let him sit through a whitetail cape so he can get an idea of what the process entails.

I know a taxidermist in Durango, John Gardner. He runs "Wildlife Expressions". (970) 247-2013

I am sure they would do the prep work for a fee.

thats what he is looking for .these guys tried to bring mule deer back from wyoming last year,butcher caped out then tried to keep froze on way back.big chunks of meat inside.to risky. they want to try it this way. any others in the area and ball park figure to do.i told them i'd show em what to do but want nothing to do with it.don't want to take a chance i guess
