potter's clay

I am looking for a cheap, inexpensive clay for taxidermy purposes. I would like to use potter's clay, however I was wondering if clay flour ( potter's clay without the water, in the powdered form) would work. Has anyone else here ever used it? Was it easy to mix?

Other than to save a few bucks on shipping, I am not sure why anyone would want to mix their own clay!

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, or any ceramics supplier, you can pick up a block for like $12. I cannot remember, but that is for a block that weighs either 20 or 25 pounds.

I use potters clay for the ears, and critter clay around the eyes and nose.
