Pickling a Pheasant yes or no

I'm in the process of mounting a flying Pheasant.The video that comes with the kit show's DP only and I was wondering if pickling it would hurt.Thanks

Jason,
You cannot make leather out of birds. Unless it's an Ostridge.
Pickling is a stage in tanning.
Birds are simple. keep it simple and just use the DP.

You can "tan" the skin and it makes mounting even simpler Just add 7oz of Lutan-F to a couple of gallons of water and a handful of salt. Let your bird skin soak in solution for 20 min. and rinse. Blow dry feathers... and mount. You will be happy u tried this. I personally believe this "tanning" of bird skins makes for a higher quality mount and nicer looking mount and trouble free mounting. The skin although still stretchy is stronger, sews easier etc.... Just an opinion... and a fact that works for me.... I tan my bird skins always...

A pheasant video i just watched showed liqua cure in the process. (and no nasty coleman fuel - lol )
But then he didnt split the wattles either.
