coyotes have a pretty thin hide to begin with. and many need not be shaved at all. Just remove the big chunks of meat and salt it for 24 hrs and into the pickle it goes. After it's in the pickle for a few days, remove and shave off the white membrane. However, they have a lot of fat in the hide, yes IN the hide and an enzyme will help take care of this. also they must be degreased. do not skip this step! And a good oil is manditory! And DON'T even think of using a "tan-o-matic" tan in a bottle. IT WON'T WORK. When all is said and done, You must break it when it is about 80-90% dry. If you do not have a large tumbler you are stuck arm staking or breaking by hand. I recomend arm staking. Good luck to ya! Joe
