I have a mountain lion hide that smells like it tangled with a skunk and lost. I washed it with dawn soap, and tried that knoblauchs stuff to kill smells and it helped a little, but it still smells after tanning. Does anyone have any ideas to getting rid of the smell.thanks ty

This recipe was in the Summer 2000 IGT magazine. Developed by a chemistby the name of Paul Krebaum. 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4cup baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid soap
Mix ingredients in a plastic bucket and wash affected object, including
man or beast. Keep away from eyes, nose, and mouth. The skunk odor should immediately disappear.
Good Luck, Kent

Tomato juice is very temporary. It's an acid and acids don't break down protein. If you want to deskunk your skunk, use the recipe above. It actually DOES work.

I tried George's advice above on a stinker recently. What a relief.
No need to try anything else ever again. Im going to try it on a stinky porcupine next! He may be more pungent than the skunk. Who knew? Thanks as always
