I'll be off to learn taxidermy at the Penn. Inst. of Taxidermy this upcoming week. And I figure I'd best learn all I can from veterans who've been there.
I had recieved a letter saying that all I'd need to bring was bedding, hygenics and food... is that it? No need to bring cutlery, plates, culinary, or stuff like that? Being that the housing costs are so expensive, I assume they provide a fridge, table, and phone line (possibly a washer/dryer and net access?)
There seem to be no wireless hotspots for me to use my laptop/network system in Ebensburg.I've looked at the house from the outside, but havn't been inside...yet.
Does anyone know if i'd be able to work on taxidermy related stuff at the housing (i.e mounting already tanned skins - no guts/mess involved) on my spare time/ 3-day weekends?
I'm basically going off of what they said I'd need written in their letters. I don't have a clue on what they don't have.
If any veterans of P.I.T have any info about any subjects that I may want to know, drop an e-mail or post here!
I'll be moving up there on the 28th.

I have been going since may...I am now on my break til saturday when I fly back to humid Ebensburg. The guys in my class have been staying in the dorm and everything seems to be furnished. I have been living in a camper. There is no Net Connection at the dorm but I know a few places you can connect with a wireless connection. You can also go to the library it is near the dorm.
You will have a blast like I have been but you will get homesick too. I only have 3 months left and you have 7 ha ha ha ....
See you at the shop.
Joe
You will be able to do some work at tha dorm but not much. I didn;t stay there but the guys that did , did some work You have a great time and learn all you can tell denny jim said hi! I just finnished it was the fastest 7 months of my life. hi joe its cold in the burg now. 72. the high.
Jim,
I know what you mean about it going fast! I am looking forward to the next phase. Being away from home sucked but it is going to be worth all the sacrifice. Be good Jim, and good luck! Make a TON of money!
Joe
I'll tell Denny you said hello.
When i attended in 03 you were not allowed to do any kind of taxi work in the dorm ,but we had to bring our mounts to the dorms sometimes to work on them ,that however they did away with, we still did a little of our own stuff the other guys , i went home on the weekends, i feel the housing is way over paid for what it is. I guess the instructors are different also, i had henry , stryker and snowberger three of the finest taxidermist you'll see, have fun and good luck
If you guys should have any questions about anything the best person to ask is RuthAnn. I didnt stay at the dorms either (like Jim) but they did some school related taxidermy there. Depending on which house you live in, you can ask the people there. Oh and everybody that remembers me hello! Hello to you Joe from CO and my little Jimmie.
