Beginner Deer and Mallard

I am 16 years old and just finished my first two mounts. I still have to paint the deer so the white that is in the picture is from the epoxy in the nose, I also have a question about the mallard; how can you accomplish laying the feathers dowm nicely and getting the same color through on the back, also there is a patch of ruffed up feathers that stil will not lay down can I fix this? It is on the other side o the head. I tried doing some closeups but the flash wouldn't work for some reason. Sorry for the bad pics. I am open to any recommendations I know there are many flaws in each of the mounts and hopefully I will get a lot better once I get more speicemens from my next hunting seasons.
You can go here to look at the pictures.

Photobucket.com will work. You should be able to tape the feathers down till they dry.

Those pics are extremely dark, it's really hard to see any detail. But the mounts look good as far as i can see.
