Fleshing knives

I was wondering if fleshing knives can be used to thin down thick hides and what kind of knife would be best for this.

Thanks for the help

I've used a few different knives. I even used a sharpened leaf spring from an old 4wd a while ago. Was great for boar shields.
A yr or 2 ago a friend made me a small straight blade with and edge on 2 sides and handles and its been better than any of my 'brand name' bought knives. Poor thing is curved now. lol.
