Research Mannikins artificial velvet service

I was wondering if anyone who has tried this service would please comment on it. also I see it has a minimum $175.00 charge for elk, any idea what a trpical rosevelt 6x6 250-260" elk set would set me back (I assume the 175 would cover a spike maybe a branch but as a min). I have no clue, the velvet has come completely off and is clean and white now. as it was killed in early september. no specifics I just want some basics like 200-250, 300-600 or 700-1000.00+ and how is it? does it look like velvet from a elk or velvet from say a sweater. does it look too perfect, are there some flaws like in nature? I will just go with a stain probably but thought this would look real swell as a presentation to show folks what can be done. I may just try an old deer first if its affordable.
also do they do homemade repros too or just their own?

Thank you for your considerate reply, you don't have to help every bonehead like me but someone always seems to.

Eric

About two months ago I had them do a 200" caribou that turned out really nice. They did it timely and the customer was more than pleased. It cost me $326 with shipping. As far a flaws goes...there were none but it still looked natural. I have a photo of the finished mount if anyone what to see it. Email me an I will send photo to you. take care, Boxie

I felt it looked too well done, though. But, thats to be expected, and theyll always suggest that you can make it look more natural to your tastes. You could scoff some areas a bit, paint over the velvet to get the streaked look in velvet, and even rub some areas down to the base material like velvet often is. The quality of the work is well worth the modest charge. I wouldnt think twice about doing more in the future.
