I have not done any alterations yet.I have a customer that wants a mule deer mid neck mount, not the full shoulder mount due to space. When reattaching the wood to the back of the form should I use bondo and long screws or foam to attach the plywood back onto the form?Any help would be great. Thanks John.

John,
Don't need anything more than bondo if it's only a neck mount. Remember the skin is wrapped and stapled to the plywood. When that skin dries it gives you even more holding strength..
Thanks for the input.
I have made a special stand-adapter for neck mounts. It seems the standard size ones that I have made interfere with the stapling of the back skin because they are too long. If you have tools at your disposal, make a square adapter for these situations that way you have plenty of room ont he back. If not, cut one of your regular ones down and redrill.
Anyone else do this for neck mounts?
In over 20 years in this business, I have never done a neck mount and never will. I don't think it does the animal justice. If the customer messed the cape up, he can buy a new cape. I know the customer is always right but I don't want a head sticking out of a wall with my name on it.
what your saying. But this is a loyal and repeat customer. He is putting it in a limited space area.I thought it would look a little goofy, but seeing the space he is going to put it in I understand his madnees.
Thanks James and others for your input.James how do your neck mounts look?Do they look like a big head coming out of the wall with this little neck?I have not mounted this deer yet,but the picture in my mind is not good.
Yeah they do not look good, and it takes twice the effort to get the thing looking decent. I agree with Ron that it could make even a great taxidermist look bad.
Thanks James and Ron for your input.Talked customer into a full shoulder mount.
