I have mounted a few deer using Krowtan. With great success I might add.(Be gentle Mr. Roof) Seems like I saw a post about oiling the hide after tanning and before mounting. Oiling the hide would keep the hide from "drying out" in the future. If this is the right process, does the oil affect the hide glue in any way? If any others are using Krowtan-what oil do you use, if any? I have completed 4 deer head mounts so far, and they do look pretty good--If I have to say so myself. At least the hair hasn't fallen out. LOL Thanks for all replies.

i liked the results using the krowoil before mounting
i know the directions say you dont have to
but
ive liked the overall outcome using the krowoil
it gives me a little more forgiveness when mounting up
because there is more stretch to the cape
strink is reduced also
Biggun try some stoprot also
use it up front and then use another application before
neutralizing
do some research on the forum on these ideas
and good luck

I do use the stoprot. I have heard of the krowoil. But, I haven't seen it advertised. Do you order it directly through Ozark woods? I'll give it a try. Thanks Paul
