Invest in a good pair of ear openers. I have the ones from Jonas Supply company.
I inject my deer ears first with a little Stop-Rot or salt water with a small syringe, and with the ear openers I insert them into the bottom of the outside of the ear and squeeze the tongs of the ear openers gently so that the top part separates the ear skin from the cartilage. You have to be really careful and go slow or else you will blow out the ear through the sides or tip. Hard to explain. Hope that helps though
