Bear Ears?

I know........I've probably used up my quota for questions this week!

The bear video I have uses Celastic earliners. He trimmed them to mate up with the form.

I have some Buckeye Earliners that don't have ear butts and I'm not sure how to keep them in place. Do I need to build up an ear butt with clay?

This is my first bear....and first time using this type of earliner.

Bear Ears

Black bears ears are fairly easy because almost all of them are the same size. I have found out that by using bondo and chopped fiberglass works better than anything. If you don't use chopped fiberglass the bondo by itself will shrink over time. Bear ears are the only ears that I use the bondo method.

I use a roll of clay about the size of my little finger and wrap around the base of the ear. Then when mounted feather it out so it doesn't appear to be thick. Make sure first of all to dig out a hole in the manikin where the ear canal is located and then place your ear with clay inside the ear canal hole. That's about as easy as it gets.
