Have a 30 year old antler that had lost it's velvet. Need to get it redone.Question is, I'm going to use a new cape that probably doesn't match the origonal color of the deer that this rack came off of.Chossing the right color is the problem I think. Should I send a patch of cape I'm going to use so they can match color I need. Should the velvet be lighter or darker than the cape? I'm doing this for a friend,he has no picture and can't remember what color it was.

Velvet comes in so Many colors it is hard to choose. I prefer contrasting colors say a dark brown cape with yellow or Gold antlers. That makes them really stand out!
The Real truth is velvet does not have much variation on antlers Chocolate brown is about it.
And if the customer can't even remember what the cape looked like. Why worry about it. Get a cape. send the antlers to Research and put them on a form when they return. Its just that simple. No need to try to make it rocket science.
