I have been mounting turkeys now for about 4 years was thinking about starting to remove the tail. Was wondering where do i cut the tail off at on the bird?I can see where this would be a great advantage need to find out. Thanks ED

I use the oiler gland to mark my cut. I grab the tail ball in my left hand and then cut in front of it right down on the head side of the oiler gland. That should leave one row of secondary feathers to stand in front of the tail, no more, and give you plenty of backside feathers to fluff up and bend down over a strutter.
