I have a 20 yr old tom cat with much battered ears and a missing bottom jaw. Any ideas how to repair?
Also, I am thinking of a re mount from the highback arching pose to the long streched out belly showing pose of reaching for a flushing bird.
The 20 yr old Cat was DP tanned and posed on a form with the ready rods passiing in the legs through the form.
Can this old cat be remounted and repaired?

more than likley the cat is toast! Joe
RLW, Your cat would be a mess if it were soaked up and removed from the form it's on. Old dp skins just don't offer much success with radical change. You can have repairs done and though the finished product would likely not look excellent it could ceretainly look better. I have done repairs on several old mounts and every time they look better- not perfect, better. If I were working on this cat I would probably just replace the ears and bottom jaw with new cat parts. Now, someone out there is reading this and shaking his head about now but this is a doable repair. Not every taxidermist would take a job like this but one with some extra cat skin and the interest to take it on could salvage that cat. -Aaron H.
