Moose cape

I returned from Newfoundland a few days ago. I got a moose I would like to have mounted. I took it to my taxidermist when I got home. He is a friend of mine. I have a little experience with taxidermy. I mounted a few deer heads, pheasants and squirrels but nothing like this, so he will be doing it. Anyway, He split the bell, lips and turned the ears. He was leaving the next mourning for a hunting trip and won't be back for about 10 days. He told me to salt it and hang it up to dry. (The guide washed it out in the lake so the hair was still wet) Then he told me to salt it, knock off the old salt the next day and salt it with fresh salt. He said to do this 3 or 4 times. My question is.......Now What? What do I do with the cape until he gets back? Do I fold it up or what? It won't fit in the fridge and the freezer is full of moose meat.

Let it air out and dry for several days, but make sure you fold it up before it becomes too stiff to fold. This may take a week or more.If it dries flint hard before folding, you might not be able to get it in a box to go to the tannery. They can get hard as a sheet of plywood.Let it dry laid out as long as you can and still get it folded up.Congrats on the moose.
