Hi Stanley. Contact the Florida Fish and Game department. You can also go to TRAPPERMAN.Com/FORUMS with this question. I don't know for sure but I think you're only allowed to use cage traps in Florida so deer and hogs shouldn't be a problem - unless you build some really big cage traps. Good luck, Glenn

I cant speak for Florida. I live in Ohio. They would make a young man like you take a trapper/fur handling coarse prior to selling you a tag. Im sure there is one in FL. too. It IS a GOOD thing. It would tell you the different sets, traps, baits, regulations, etc..
It is a great outdoor hobby. You doing what you like would enable you to make a few bucks too. You wont have to worry about snow and ice on your sets. hahaha Im jealous of that. Take care and gooood luck

Trapper Ed Course

The best thing you can do for your self is to contact your state dnr and find a trapping ed. course. In wisconsin this course is required for anyone who wishes to trap. Even if it is not required in your state I would highly reccomend it. I learned more from those trapping instructors in 2 days than I could have learned in weeks of reading or researching.

Using the right bait

A good way is to use the right bait that attracts whatever you are trapping but not incourage other animals to set off the trap. Research online and take a trappers ed class. It really help to understand what your doing before you try it.
