Finishing Bear Paws

What is the best way to finish a bear pad that has been split up the middle?

I'm guessing that some epoxy and added texture to get the correct look....but what about paint? I'm afraid they will look too shiny if I just paint them.

I take apoxie sculpt and mix it with black powdered tempra paint. Spread it on the bottom of the pad then texture it with a stiff bristle brush by dabbing it with the bristles. When it's dry you don't even have to paint it and it won't shine.

I use epoxy sculp(fill in crack) and dab it with a wash rag for texture....then i color wth an air brush applying laquer paint(black)very thinnly and not too close....if u try to cover fast it is prone to shine .....build it up slow....GL

Thanks
