I ordered a Swamp Booger form and didn't get any instructions for it. I assumed there would at least be something with the form to explain what parts needed to be saved from the rear of the deer. Anyone that has done one and can kind-of explain would be greatfully appreciated. All I have is the picture of one in the catalog. D.S.

Special care must be taken during skinning not to make any cuts up around the butt area. When you get the form it, you lay it out like you intend to mount it. Some people sweep the tail forward while others allow it to be a Mohawk. The anus is usually brought down and put on the tip of the muzzle and replaced with an artificial nose. It is further cut to allow installation of an artificial jawset in the muzzle. Eyes have to have cuts made for them and you should be very careful not to cut off hair while doing it. This will allow eyelashes to be made from the hair pattern. Use a GOOD epoxy hide paste and lots of pins to hold the hide in place. Once completed, coloration is added around the eyes to give it a sunken appearance.
Guess we've all done one or two of those dumb things, but it does give you some valuable training on "modifying" a hide to fit a form instead of the other way around. And if you're doing it FOR someone, you should charge them enough so they won't want a second one.
This is for my Brother. Just a gift so no money changes hands. This form already has the eyes in it. Do I kinda carve a space for the skin to go into or just glue it close to the edge? I'm use to tucking the eyes.
That's where the pins and epoxy hide paste come in.
has a small article in it on mounting these. Kind of vauge but it gives you an idea.

I've never used an epoxy paste before. Are there different time lengths for setting? Or does it just depend on what brand you use?
