I man asked me the other day. How do I preserve a Water Buffalo Skull with horns in tact? He said it was very old and starting to fall apart some. the outer horn is slipping off. I did not have a good answer and thought to check with you all. Can you help? please respond only to my email address. Thanks Chub

Horns and skull

Usually what I do, is soak it in some bleach (to get rid of smells, bugs and whitens a bit) then after it dries, spray it with some kind of laquer or sealer.
The outer horns will come off, exposing the bone core within. If you can manage to get both horns off, that's when you do the bleaching. Horn is hair and might come loose/fray/crack in the bleach. If he wants the horns to stay on, just epoxy them back in place.
If he wants it to be a rustic natural look, just spray the whole thing with a sealer. or for a more regal look, you can stain the horns with wood stain or regular hair dye.
Just some of my opinions that worked for me.
