I figure if I use a big name like that than every one will check it out! You had made a comment recently about "Dry Tan vs Dry Preservitaves" And how it's so confusing to beginners.
Well if suppliers like [a supply company] (I love the way that comes up!) Didn't offer a product called "Dry Tan" Which IS just a dry preservitave. I am sure this would be very easey for beginners to figure it out. I had a beginner slam me in a recent post becaues my english isn't that great for an English man! LOL! "A Dry Tan" is not the same as "Dry Tan" Have a good one! Joe

Glen Conley and I spoke some time back about "tanning". Actually, there is no definition of what a "real" tan is. Once upon a long time ago, taxidermists actually just pickled it by today's vernacular. Alum tans, vegetable tans, chrome tans, brain tans, spray tans, instant tans, paste tans, and paint on tans carry it over the top. I strongly suspect that Stop Rot COULD be used as a tan with better results than several of those "tans" listed above. So you see how confusing it can be for someone like me who forget where he laid down the car keys just a few minutes ago. And where the hell did I put my glasses...........OH, I have them on.

I didn't even know that there is a product called Dry Tan, that is just a DP. So Sr. You just slammed dunked me.LOL.

Don't ever take anything I say here seriously, sometimes my play on words don't come out right on the screen. Just the other day some guy got upset over a dog bite and took offense and really slammed me here and email. I just try to help out when I can and thought I had a good solution to his problem and still hope it works. Anyway's I will never intentionally step on the toes of anyone, unless they really deserve it.

And that mutual friend...

Has a wealth of info to offer to the industry! It is a shame that the definition of hide tanning is simply to preserve it. Yes I know that with litle more than STOP-ROT you have a stable and preserved skin. I also remember "tanning" with sulfuric acid and neats foot oil. The tanning for taxidermy industy has come a long way in the past few years. "Tanning" today is safer, faster, cheaper, and longer lasting than ever before, And yet we still have people asking if they can "DP to rug a bear". How long did it take the romans to tan a cow hide? I only wish people (and the marketing experts) were more aware of the dif. between a preserved skin and a tanned peice of leather. Is a tanned skin preserved? Yes. Is a preserved skin tanned? IMHO no.
Joey, Sorry I couldn't help it! My son's name is "Joseph jr." aka "Joey jr" I am one of thoes people who may not allways be right... But don't think I am ever wrong! LOL!
Hey George! If you come across my keys Let me know. You kids have fun! Joe

The term Tan a hide came about at a time when tannic acid was used to preserve hides. It then became synonymous with preserving a hide.
Just like today, No matter who Manufactures a skid steer loader. We call it a bobcat.
