Biginner in need of advice

Submitted by Sarah Pickthall on 11/22/05 at 6:00 AM. ( sarah@jst.org.uk ) 85.95.96.130

Taxidermy is something i have always been facinated with, and would like some tips and advise on the best way for a biginner to start, i do have access to some small fish as my father is a trout farmer, but one day i aspire to move on to weasels and maybe one day a nice owl.

Many thanks for help in advance.

Sarah.

Sarah,

Fancy meeting a like minded trout mounter.

I am also in hampshire and would love to meet up to discuss my mounting technique. I am a well accomplised mounter and stuffer and many of the fine trout in hampshire would testify to my prowess!

Im sure your farther would agree when i meet him that i am the finest candidate to carry onthe family tradition and to help his daughter with get her stuffing spot on and the final mounting to be poetic!

Please get in touch

yours trouterly

Tim

stay away from the owl

they are a protected species, as are all songbirds, eagles, hawks etc. Try a crow when they are in season, or an upland game bird, quail, chukar partridge etc. Wouldn't want you to get in trouble right off the bat. I have a friend who actually has an eagle that is mounted, but it was done way back in the 40's and he has the paperwork to prove it, so he can keep it himself.

Bobbie, look at her email

It would appear that she is somewhere in the United Kingdom, where I beleive mounting raptors is quite common place and legal for the most part.

Remember taxi.net is an international website. U.S. laws dont always apply.

NOW.. if she is the United States, then yes I would stay away from the owl..

When you found this site, there was a big white block that said "What do you want to know". Beginners can find just about everything they need by filling that block with their questions.
