Are you talking about a raw cape? If you are, huh, not too long at all. It needs to be frozen. I wouldn't push it past 2 days really. It's decomposing if it is unfrozen. If it is tanned it will be fine for days on end, but should be frozen as well.

I thaw everything in the fridge. I have my shop fridge set at 34 degrees and I have never lost a skin. I have even forgotten to check on something and left it for days and it was just fine. The trick is the temp. Nothing above 34 is safe. Just my opinion and experience.


Longer than u think

Some of the deer we get in have been in a ranch cooler for 3 to 4 days before we get them. Sometimes it takes a couple days to get them worked up. I dont run into many problems. However I always worry about them. I think as long as the cooler is cool u can go 4 or 5 days without much problems.
