I'm just starting game head taxidermy and a friend just brought over a mule deer cape that was supposedly frozen. I told him it looked dry and proceeded to thaw it out. Sure enough it's dried over most of it. Can I save it? It's a beautiful cape, but it still has meat and fat on it. The hair is not coming out at all, nor is there any noticable rotting. It was kept cold...Can I do anything to save this cape? Thanks, Steve

use the orange search button to your left and type in stop rot.
I'm more worried about getting the skin soft again as it is stiff and still needs everything done to it. I will use Stop Rot if I can get it soft again...Steve

will soften that dried out cape very fast, buy some and put it on!
I ordered it from WASCO. Should be here soon. Do you have to rinse it off the cape after or before salting? Steve
on the cape, it won't hurt a thing. I did a Mt Lion that way. Swabbed stop rot, threw it in the fridge for an hour, turned spilt and salted with no rinsing. The skin tanned beautifully.
