Hello, I done my first deer shoulder mount in january of this year. And now that i have done about 15 more i not liking the way the ears turned out. My question is- I used dp on this deer and was wondering if i strip the cape off the manikin can i soak the cape in water then fix the ears and dp again.(or can i go ahead and tan the cape then fix the ears then mount)

Thanks, any info would be useful

James, depends on what type glue you used. I doubt you would be able to strip the cape off the form if you used an epoxy hide paste. If you used a dextrin based glue you should be able to soak the mount in a large container of water and a relaxing agent. Carefully strip the cape off the form-- I think you may be able to tan it. I know DP screws with ph readings so you will need take frequent readings.
