Is there any reason that critter clay would not be appropriate to use when rebuilding wing or leg muscles on birds? I know it would be abit more expensive than cotton, but it seems to me that it might be just as easy to use and would allow a more accurate recreation of the muscles themselves, but what do I know? Thanks. Chuck

On one of my pheasants, I used clay to rebuild the wing and leg muscles. I do not own a wire wheel, so I can't defat them as good as I should. The clay did not absorb any oil coming out of the skin, so the skin under the feathers turned yellowish as it dried. The cotton absorbed this just fine. But yes, if you flesh the skin extremely well, clay would be much more accurate. Peace~Sam
