I'm doing a life size deer and the closest form for the length I can get is about 4" to long. Is there a certain place along the stomach to make the adjustment. The cape I have measures 6 3/4 x 17 x 51 x 43. It was hard to find the right size form to match those measurements. I know I need to learn and customize my forms. I just needed a few pointers out there. Also, is there a certain bondo that will be best when putting it back together.
I apprreciate your time and input.

If it was a small amount I would cut in the the middle and take the difference out. But being 4" me personally I would cut the midsection a couple of times a take a little out of each section. I have done this several times and it works out better. As far as the bondo it will make it heavy, so it possible use two part foam to reattach things. Hope this helps it works for me.

From you description, I'm guessing your hide is 51 inches long and 43 inches in circumference. Many times on larger animals, the hide becomes skewed during the tanning and stretching process. I'm assuming again that you found a 43 inch circumference, but the length is only 47 inches. If that's the case, look for an animal that's (lets just say here) 49 inches long but 45 inches in circumference. Now you've shortened your hide and fattened up your mount. There is such a competitive market out there in taxidermy forms today, that MOST forms are anatomically correct and to change them by that much will effect their appearance.
