Coyote Ears

I am doing my first head mount of a coyote. I will be tanning the hide. Is it necessary to split the ears and what is the best way to go about it without splitting them out? Thanks for your help!

With a scapel. Just take your time and turn them.
PS: It's necessary to split all mammal ears.

I do this and it works

take your finger or a rounded tool push it up from the out side of the ear and when it starts to flip you will start skining it like you skinned the dog (carefully). hope you understand and hope this helps.

Ear Openers

Work well when turning ears on mammals. I like the smaller pair from Research. Go slow and keep a hold of the outside of the ear so you dont blow them out at the end. hope this helps you out.

THANKS!
