I've done several deer mounts and I'm now ready to try my first elk. I have a video where the guy brushes tanning oil on the eyes and nose to keep them "soft" while the mount dries.
Is this necessary?

I have been do this on on all my shoulder mounts> It gives a little more time for adjustments.
