I just got my McKenzie tanning kit and it did not come with any oil in the kit so does this mean it is not needed?

They have you're answer as to where the oil went. Did you order the kit or just the tan? The oil will help flat skins be semi soft and easy to break. Check out what you exactly ordered and give them a call.
It's in the tanning solution already, same as Liquid Tan.
