I plan to hang two elk mounts, one being a fully tan hide similiar to a bear rug on a wall that recieves about 4 hous of sulight a day. The windows have been tinted with Huber optics-40 which eliminates the UV rays and most of the heat but the light will continue to come through. Will the light itself cause damage over the next 5 years? Also one of my hides was roled up in the move and before I could get to it, a mouse got inside to keep warm. In doing so, cutout a patch of top hair about 2 inches wide. Is there a glue that I could used to blend in the departed hair so it won't be as noticable?

the sun will damage the mounts over time. you can soak the back side of the hide just around that spotwith a sponge and then cut out and sew the bad spot out.
Keith,
I have 16 deer mounts on the living room wall. They receive about 4 hours of light each day. I have low E windows, plus I put this reflective window film on as well. They are fading fast. Good thing I am a taxidermist and can replace them.
If you want your mounts to stay in good shape and have that freshly mounted look, keep them out of the sun. We have large windows in our display room and have just recently raised our ceiling in the display room. One of the reasons was to get a lot of our mounts out of the sun.
