This is my first deer mount it is a blacktail from northern california the pictures suck but hopefully not too bad. Tell me what you think. I used Krowtan which seems to work great.

for a first deer. I wouldn't want anybody to see my first one. I kept it my storage room for about 20 yrs and finally took the antlers off and tossed the head. Stick with it and make each mount better than the last. Congratulations and Happy New Year.

The ears are set too far back. They are almost on the back of the neck. The shape of the eyes are off a bit. Did you use enough clay to build the eye lids? I also see a ridge on the back of the skull behind antlers. Looks like you didnt blend the antler plate in with the form. Thats about all I can see with the pics you provided. Good luck, you work will get better with practice.
