freezer burned black bear

just wanted to get some opinions on what i should do.I got in a small bear the other day and when I thawed it out the head and feet are burned so bad they are rock hard.I put stop rot on them to try to loosen the pads up and that didnt work.Should I tell the guy to scrap it and buy another one or what? thanks

those are all decisions and judgement calls you will have to make.

you will see that particular thread was active up to yesterday. You've posted in Beginners and we most generally accept that as meaning the person that started the thread is a beginner.

Even with STOP-ROT you still have to get the fluid levels brought back up in the skin and muscle it is attached to before you can get anywhere with it. When you get into stuff like this, you ARE going to be into more work and time than you would be under normal circumstances.

A lot of these people using STOP-ROT for these kind of tricks are experienced and savy people. They have the advantage of being able to draw on their own past experiences and observations. They know when to make the next move, their eyes and mind tell them when. If you are a beginner, you might have to think a little harder the first time around.
