sew fox before sending to tannery?

I have a fox that has a big hole in it and was going to send it off to have it garmet tanned. Should I sew before sending it out, or wait until I get it back. It is a big hole, and I am worried it will get torn out more if I don't sew it first.

Depending on what tannery you send it to...

it's going to come back in worse shape any way. Send it to the Wildlife Gallery in Michigan. In the box fill out a sheet that points out the problem area so they know about it. When they look at the sheet and your fox they will more than likely take such great care of it, that the hole you have in it is the only one that it will have when they are done with it. Unlike some of the other tanneries you read post on here about all the time. Good Luck to you. Dan
