i am going to buy a few animals to mount threw the summer as practice but what all do i need to do to preserve them so they are not ruined when i get to them ,,, i'm going to buy a bear, deer bobcat, mallard squirrel etc....... i was going to get it all fleshed and cleaned but wanted some pro ideas for the animals to guarentee there good threw the summer while there in the freezer. i'm new to all this and my friends tell me to try to buy my specimens now due to in the summer there harder to get and the prices are a bit higher...let me know what you think thanks for all the advice guys this site is the greatest

I would purchase each specimen one at a time. As you receive each specimen, you can therefore skin and flesh it without the worry of having too many specimens on hand and having to hurry through the skinning and fleshing process. After each specimen is skinned and fleshed, you can put them in a plastic bag and freeze them until this summer. As for prices, they will vary throughout the year. Check out the " For Sale " catagory on the upper left hand corner.
i am also verynew at this butif it help if you ever have animals waitingin the freezer, get a pair of your wife, girlfrien, or friends panny hoes and cut it depending on the size of the animal. and just simply slide it in and i heard it keeps them very neat.

i would get what you want, flesh them, salt them, and then send them off for someone else to tan. i think it would be easier, that is if you have a tanner in your area, to do it that way. learn one thing at a time.
hahah ye si know that a bear probly wont work for the pannyhoe method but it is great for small game. hahaha
