keeping it wet. I use a spray bottle with water and a little bactracide (sp?). It makes the fat come off better than it does when it's dry. And yes, the wheel will tear the skin, in a heartbeat if you are not careful. BP

thanks a lot

without you asking a direct question it wiould be hard for anyone to say anything other then general infromation. If you tear a hole don't worry you can sew it up. Before I tell you what you need to do; as if I could, here is a tip I learned the hard way today on a turkey. DON'T let the fat gather on the shaft of the wheel, if it does there is a chance it will grab any feathers close enough and wrap that skin faster then you can blink. I don't know how but I got it switched off before any damage ocurred(maybe a feather or 5). Now the best tool you can have is just to the left. It can and will get confusing at times but there is some really good stuff to read. The longer you use it the better it will get and the better you will be able to skip right past the BS. See that orange button to the left. Its filled with info just like you asked and more then you could think to ask right now. Go type mounting first duck or mounting waterfowl and see how many post is archived. Good luck on your first bird and don't forget it probably can be fixed in some way.
