I did a search (orange button) but did not find any real discussion on climate control in the shop. I mount my deer in a Morton building with base board heat. At night the shop gets down around 55-60 degrees but by the middle of the day its 70 or so. Sometimes a lot warmer. Also no humidity control, but this time of year it is fairly dry. I am wondering if this flucuation in temperature is enough to keep the mounts from drying properly. I have a slight drumming problem, I have tried using more hide paste which seems to be helping, although the last mount I dids seam is really busting open. The deer did not seem too tight when I was sewing it up, but the seem really opened up, and there is a small area of drumming at the arm pit. Come summer time I will need a dehumidifier, as I only have a window unit air conditioner. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Jennifer

The climate in your shop is only one factor, without information about the other factors, it is difficult to give you a solution. Other factors include how the cape was tanned,(I assume you're talking about a deer), did you rough up the manikin and use a good hide paste like Buckeye Supreme, how did you sew it, did you shave the cape thin?
