George, what do you look for in a post that makes you decide whether to give a response or not? I've been reading and posting on this forum for about one year and have learned a lot from your responses. They seem to be very sincere and honest. I know you don't have the time to respond to every post, but it seems like you pass on some that really need help. e.g....a post that nobody else has responded to. Well, I was just wondering. Thanks for all the times you DO respond with advice. Todd.

In a post below I explain that I spend as much of my day here as I do in the shop and after 48 years, it would seem I'd have gotten smart enough to avoid that shop more, but I haven't. Some question I DO ignore to keep from asking the guy how he can breathe with his head so far up ....well, and on others, I'll let them set to see how others answer. If they answer to what I feel does no harm, I skip them. If an answer they give has proven over the years to cause me pain later on, then I'll step up and put in my dimes worth of opinion. Many posts here are from folks who just simply do not or cannot think "outside the box", so I try and explain simpler ways of accomplishing something. A surefire way to light my fuse is to badmouth the NTA without cause, or for Cecil to conjure up some spook in politics who only has two left arms- or he makes some slanderous remark about this website being free and who monitors it) Some have tried to insult my work (like I haven't heard those things before) or make some smartassed remark about my military service history (which I don't make any excuses for and can and have gotten ignorant over a response to it). But for the most part, there's no pattern and I figure that most people would just as soon I overlooked all the postings. (Sucks to be them, I guess)
I do TRY to make sure every question gets a response, so if you see one that no one has responded, that's one that's too stupid to get my blood pressure up or has already been answered 10,000 times before.
Thanks for responding. Look forward to reading and learning more in the future. Todd
Not that I have heard any recent reasons that appear good. It has not come up on the forums in a bad way for some time. Evidently the good press is working.
Todd, your question was a good one. It is obvious to many of us here that we definitely need George here. He more than likely irritates quite a few, but those same few do probably benefit from posts he has placed here in the archives. If a post sits for a couple days and no-one answers, George often goes out of his way to at least post something. Unfortunately there are posts that never get answered, but they are questions that have either been answered hundreds of times, or those that do not have an answer.
