Tumbler

Ok now i know that your soposed to look in the orange pill for answeres but i cant find it so hear goes.

how big dose a tumbler need to be for softing ing deer hides i heard 4 ft but does that mean 4 ft high or around ? where could i get a 4 ft or larger barrel? ok ill shut up for now thanks yall !

going to have to custom build your tanning drum. i would reccomend 6 - 8 feet across the drum not around. this is needed to have enough fall to soften and break hides. some get by with a 4 foot one but this case if you have room bigger is better especially if you get into whole hides such as bears etc.

Bruce Rittel explains it all very well in there. He says 8 feet.
